The Philadelphia Sertoma Club is helping the Neshoba Central Football team beat the heat by donating over 20 bags of Gatorade mix.

Club President B.J. Morrow said the club always has a lot of Gatorade left over after its Heart-O-Dixie Triathlon fundraiser in July.

“We take the leftover Gatorade and donate it to local schools around the area, and this year we donated it to Neshoba Central,” Morrow said. “We do our best to help local schools and the community, as we do two scholarships for East Central Community, donate to local parks and the Boys and Girls Club, and provide meals for football teams at the schools as needed.”

Morrow said Neshoba Central has always been incredibly grateful and welcoming of any donations from the club, and the athletes were especially grateful for the Gatorade due to the intense heat this summer.

“The heat is incredible right now and I can’t imagine what it’s like being out there practicing,” Morrow said. “We gave them around 25 bags of Gatorade powder, and each bag makes around 5 gallons. They are very thankful for this.”

Morrow said the club, dedicated to helping young people with speech and hearing impairments, has branched out to help the community and local schools.

The name SERTOMA comes from their slogan, SERvice TO MAnkind.
