After struggling to a 2-5-1 record to start the season, the Leake Academy baseball team posted three blowout wins last week.

The Rebels played twice on Monday at East Central, beating Louisville 14-0 and Ethel 17-2. The Rebels returned on Tuesday and then beat Ethel 9-0 to finish out the week. 

Leake will return from spring break and open district play with a three-game series against Wayne. Game 1 is set for Tuesday at Wayne while game 2 is set for Thursday at Madden. Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Waynesboro.

Leake 14, Louisville 0

After a week off, the Rebels drew 14 walks and banged out 11 hits in a shutout win over the Wildcats on Monday at ECCC in the first game of the day.

After two scoreless innings, Leake scored five in the third inning and then finished with three in the sixth and seven in the seventh. 

Leake had 11 hits in the contest. Tyler Winstead was 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs while Camden Marble was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Gage Warren was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBIs while Rhett Stovall was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Jack Harkins was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Charlie Brantley singled, walked twice and scored two runs while Rese Atkinson walked four times and scored three runs. Majure Chandler also walked three times and scored two runs. 

Harkins started on the mound and pitched four innings, scattering one hit and three walks while striking out two. Jon Donovan pitched the last three innings and gave up one hit and one walk while striking out two.

Leake 17, Ethel 2

The Rebels scored 14 runs in the first inning and cruised to a three-inning, run-rule win over the Tigers in the second game of the day on Monday. 

After Leake scored 14 in the first, Ethel scored two in the second. Leake finished with three in the third. 

Leake had just six hits and took advantage of 10 walks and seven errors. Matthan Weaver was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Gage Warren singled and drove in two runs. Camden Marble singled and drove in two runs while Charlie Brantley singled and scored three runs. Tyler Winstead and Jack Harkins both walked twice, scored two runs and had three RBIs while Rhett Stovall singled and scored two runs. Tanner Walsworth also walked twice and scored two runs.

Rece Atkinson started on the mound and pitched all three innings for Leake to pick up the win, giving up two runs on two hits while striking out six. 

Leake 9, Ethel 0

The Rebels used a pair of big innings and took a shutout win over the Tigers on Tuesday at East Central.

Leake scored four in the second and finished with five in the sixth. 

Leake outhit Ethel 9-6 in the contest. Majure Chandler was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Tyler Winstead was 2-for-3 while Rhett Stovall singled and drove in two runs. 

Stovall started on the mound and pitched six innings, scattering six hits and a walk while striking out three. Matthew Nowell pitched the seventh and struck out one.
