Rebelettes open district play this week
The Leake Academy Rebelettes lost their second game of the season, falling to Pillow Academy again.
The Rebelettes opened the week with an easy 60-30 win over Hartfield but then dropped a 54-50 decision to the Lady Mustangs.
The Rebels had a rough week on the hardwoods as they dropped a pair of close games, falling 46-42 to Hartfield and 47-45 to Pillow.
Leake will open district play this week as they travel to Park Place on Tuesday. They will return home on Friday and host Lamar School and then host Jackson Prep on Friday to round out the week.
Leake girls 60, Hartfield 30
The Rebelettes outscored the Lady Hawks in every period as they cruised to a 30-point win on Tuesday.
Leake jumped out to a 23-6 lead in the first period and then outscored Hartfield 16-13 in the second period to lead 39-19 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Hartfield 14-6 in the third and 7-5 in the fourth to take the win.
Katye Jones led Leake with 13 points and four rebounds while Sarah Prince had eight points. Addie Crowe had seven points while Jenna Allen had six points and four assists. Marleigh Myers had five points and four rebounds while Olivia Rudolph and Anna Morgan Young each had five points apiece.
Hartfield boys 46, Leake 42
The Hawks pulled away in the second half and took a hard-fought four-point win over the Rebels on Tuesday.
Each team scored 10 points in the first period while Leake took the second period 10-9 to lead 20-19 at the half. Hartfield then outscored Leake 13-11 in the third and 14-11 in the fourth to take the win.
Samuel Prince led Leake with 20 points while Taite Edwards had six points.
Pillow girls 54, Leake 50
The Lady Mustangs came back in the fourth period to take a four-point win over the Rebelettes on Thursday.
Pillow jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the first period before Leake took the second period 16-13 to cut the margin to 30-26 at the half. Leake then outscored Pillow 12-6 in the third to take a 38-36 lead into the fourth. Pillow then outscored Leake 18-12 in the fourth.
Olivia Rudolph had eight points and seven rebounds while Katye Jones had eight points and five rebounds for Leake. Sarah Prince and Jenna Allen each had eight points while Hannah Clark had seven points. Marleigh Myers had four points while Anna Morgan Young and Ella Bell each had three points apiece.
Pillow boys 47, Leake 45
The Mustangs dominated the middle two periods and held on to take a two-point win over the Rebels.
Each team scored 11 points in the first period while Pillow outscored Leake 11-9 in the second to lead 22-20 at the half. Pillow then had a big third period and outscored Leake 15-9 in the third to lead 37-29 going to the fourth. Leake rallied and outscored Pillow 16-10 in the fourth but came up two points short.
Samuel Prince led Leake with 27 points while Lucas Thomas had 10 points.
