Police now have surveillance footage and are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a weekend auto burglary at a downtown cafe and nightclub in which two purses were taken.

The surveillance footage shows the suspect breaking into the driver’s side of the vehicle parked on Center Avenue and taking two purses, said Philadelphia Police Det. Bobby Pattillo.

The purses have been recovered and some cash and credit cards were taken, he said of the  Saturday, March 13 incident.

Police originally believed the burglary to have happened between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. The footage marks the burglary at 9:53 p.m.

The complainant was a patron of nearby Marty’s Blues Cafe on Beacon Street. Pattillo said that when the victim left the bar, she noticed that her vehicle had been burglarized.

Pattillo added that no forced entry was noted.

“Case is currently under investigation,” Pattillo said.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to call PPD at 601-656-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
