Police search for shooter at Valley View

Police are looking for a suspect in a Valley View shooting Monday evening that sent a Brandon man to a Jackson hospital, the authorities said.

Both the victim and suspected assailant are likely from the Brandon area, said Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons. 

“The investigation is still ongoing as more info is being gathered,” Lyons said. “No suspect has been identified at this time.”

Officers responded to Valley View Drive at about 8:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired with one victim who had been shot in the leg. 

The shooting appeared to be the result of an ongoing feud that evening between the two individuals, officials said.

Lyons said the victim refused to give any info to officers regarding the shooting. The victim was taken by ambulance to The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, police said.
