Philadelphia Police to crack down on ATV use

Posted

Philadelphia police officers said they are working to curtail the use of ATVs and non-street-legal vehicles in the city limits.

“We have had several reports of ATV or side-by-sides driving on city streets,” said Police Chief Eric Lyons. “Our patrol officers have encountered them as well.”

Lyons said a friendly warning has worked so far but repeat offenders could expect to face such penalties as tickets, fines, arrest or even having their vehicles towed.

“This is something we don’t condone and are dealing with,” Lyons said. “We encourage people not to drive these vehicles on the street because they are not street-legal vehicles.”

To report suspicious activity in your area call the Philadelphia Police Department non-emergency line at (601) 656-2131.
