Philadelphia police are investigating a string of thefts in which car parts were reported stolen throughout town over the weekend.

“As of this morning, we have received four separate reports of catalytic converter thefts in the city,” said Police Chief Eric Lyons on Monday.

Lyons said the thefts were reported at the AT&T store on Water View Lane behind the Huddle House, Tolbert Chevrolet, the Rent-a-Center on Beacon Street and Byars Furniture trucks parked downtown.

“These thefts occurred sometime over the weekend,” Lyons said.

Lyons said investigators are checking surrounding businesses and gathering video footage to locate possible suspects. He said they believe the thefts to be connected.
