Two people were arrested and charged with drug possession after they were stopped on Highway 16 East with active warrants.

The driver, Jonathan Robinson, 32, 231 Sonny Jones Road, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

He said Robinson was wanted on an indictment for possession of a controlled substance issued in April. The original charge stems from an incident in which Robinson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance on Sept. 27, 2022.

The passenger, Martisha Ann Mingo, 28, of 231 Sonny Jones Road, was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Clark said Mingo also had a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Deputies first encountered the couple on July 5, at about 2:30 p.m., at a checkpoint at the intersection of Road 743 in the Ocobla community.

Clark said deputies quickly identified Robinson’s indictment and Mingo’s warrant and searched the vehicle. A search of the vehicle rendered two small bags containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a pair of glass pipes.
