A Walnut Grove man has been arrested and charged with breaking into a vehicle and a house on Road 369 near Dixon on Independence Day.

The man, Logan Keith Comby, 20, 667 Reservation Road, Walnut Grove, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunk, littering, and two counts of burglary, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Deputies were first notified around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, soon after the fireworks concluded at the casinos when a resident of Road 369 called to say she was watching an individual with a pitchfork attempting to enter her house on her security system. Clark said she was able to give the deputies live updates as they headed out to the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies found the house had been entered, and some parts of the house had been rummaged through, though all that was reported stolen was a pack of gum and some change.

Another deputy was searching the side of Road 369 when he encountered Comby, who was intoxicated, near where the road connects to Highway 21.

Clark said the pack of gum was found in Comby’s possession. He was arrested on the burglary charges.

Clark said a follow-up investigation identified a vehicle at another residence on Road 369 that was broken into on July 4, and some alcohol was taken. Clark said Comby has been connected to that incident as well.
