Neshoba, Choctaw continue playoff runs
The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets are prepping for their second-round matchup against Olive Branch in the 6A state tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Lady Rockets are coming off a first-round dominating win over Center Hill, 75-49.
Center Hill kept it close in the first half, only trailing 30-26 by halftime. The Lady Rockets came out to outscore Center Hill 26-10 in the third quarter before running away with the game.
Olive Branch narrowly defeated Vicksburg 58-54 in their first-round matchup.
Also still competing for a state championship are the Choctaw Central Warriors and Choctaw Central Lady Warriors in the 4A bracket.
The Lady Warriors will face South Pontotoc in the quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday after a dominating second-round win over Itawamba Agricultural, 72-33. This comes after the Lady Warriors destroyed New Albany 87-5 in the first round.
The Warriors bested Itawamba Agricultural 59-46 in second-round action and will face New Albany Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
The Philadelphia Tornadoes’ season ended in the second round after falling to East Union 50-45. The Lady Tornadoes met a similar fate against East Union in the second round, losing 74-52.
