Neshoba Central educators receive MPE grant awards

Jamie Calvert, a librarian at Neshoba Central Middle School, recently received a classroom grant from the Mississippi Professional Educators (MPE). 

A resident of Louisville, Jamie has been a member of MPE since 2009. She plans to use her grant funding for a project entitled “Story Walk.” This movement and literacy boosting project exposes students to a variety of literacy materials to increase reading comprehension, phonemic awareness, fluency and vocabulary.

Also, Kreissa Reed, a 5th grade teacher at Neshoba Central Elementary, recently received a classroom grant from the Mississippi Professional Educators (MPE). A resident of Carthage, Kreissa has been a member of MPE since 2013. She plans to use her grant funding for a project entitled “Energy Conservation and Natural Resources” This investigative project allows students to appreciate and comprehend the effects of human interaction with Earth and how Earth’s natural resources can be protected and conserved.

Founded in 1979, MPE is a statewide professional association with approximately 13,000 teachers, administrators and non-certified staff from kindergarten to graduate school level. Our top priority is the education and achievement of students. MPE awards up to $40,000 in classroom grants to MPE members who wish to enhance instructional offerings or educational experiences for their students.
