National Day of Prayer

A public gathering was held at Dewitt-Deweese Memorial Park to celebrate National Day of Prayer last Thursday.

The Rev. David Addy, representing the Neshoba Baptist Association, extended a warm welcome followed by Lisa Addy singing the national anthem.

Prayers were led by local leaders including the Rev. Justin Craft of Trinity Baptist for families, Mayor James A. Young for the community, and Nick Walker of the Philadelphia Police Department for law enforcement.

Josh Perkins, superintendent of Neshoba County School District, prayed for education, while the Rev. Chester Carlisle of Grace Baptist said a prayer for the state.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the nation and the world by the Rev. Jeff Brewer of East Philadelphia Baptist and the Rev. Jermaine Simmons of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Noxubee County.
