A Union man remains in custody following his arrest after leading law enforcement on a 15-mile motorcycle chase on Sunday.

The man, Joseph O. Rowell, 47, 10340 Road 294, Union, was arrested and charged with felony pursuit, false ID information, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, driving under a suspended license, reckless driving, failure to yield to blue lights, no insurance and possession of paraphernalia.

Neshoba County Jail records say Rowell was denied bond.

Rowell was out on bond for a June arrest on charges that included DUI and possession of a controlled substance, Sheriff Eric Clark said.

In addition to being out on bond, Clark said Rowell was denied bond in part because he owed a number of fines to the county as well.

Deputies first encountered Rowell at a safety checkpoint on Highway 15 south at the city limits where the roadway changes from four-lane to two-lane just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Clark said Rowell, who was riding a motorcycle, gave deputies a false name and refused to remove his helmet. Clark said he used the name of a family member.

Rowell soon fled the scene, Clark said. Rowell would lead deputies on a 15-mile chase down Highway 15 south. Deputies were able to box him in just north of Union and south of Road 325 where they were able to arrest Rowell.
