A DeKalb man has been arrested and charged for allegedly making terrorist threats to an employee at a health clinic here.

The man, Jamal Hollins, 32, of 234 Zachery Street, DeKalb, was arrested and charged with making harassing phone calls and making terroristic threats, the authorities said.

“Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate the threatening of our emergency personnel,” Sheriff Eric Clark said. “With more than 300 active shooter incidents occurring in the past year, we take any threat as a serious threat. Public safety continues to be our only priority.”

The charges stem from an incident reported on Friday, July 14, when Neshoba County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a Philadelphia medical clinic in response to phone threats, Clark said.

The clinic receptionist fielded a phone call, and the caller asked for a company employee. The caller stated the employee should meet him in the parking lot or he was going to come in there and shoot everybody, Clark said.

The victim called the police and reported that she had been receiving threatening messages all afternoon. Clark said the clinic closed early, due to the phone threats.

NCSO Deputies canvassed the area on Friday looking for the suspected caller. Deputies were unable to make contact with the caller and patrolled the area extensively during this period.

“Local security played a large role in the protection of patients and staff, during this time,” Clark said.

On Monday, July 17, the suspect, who was identified as Hollins, began calling and texting from a different phone number. Clark said warrants were then issued for Hollins.

Hollins turned himself in to Neshoba Sheriff’s Deputies before 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Clark said. Hollins was charged with telephone harassment, making terroristic threats, and is currently being held without bond, as it was denied by Justice Court Judge Paul Payne.
