A Neshoba County man was arrested and charged after allegedly obstructing a roadway with his vehicle, the authorities. said.

The man, Shawn Shoemake, 35, 120 Bates Road, was arrested and charged with DUI, no proof of insurance, a seat belt violation, improper equipment, and an expired tag, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

On Friday, July 7, a Neshoba County Deputy Sheriff observed a white Ford Explorer blocking the intersection of Road 743 and Highway 482, Clark said.  

The Deputy made contact with Shoemake, who was the driver. Clark said the deputy reported Shoemake was “obviously under the influence of alcohol.” The deputy noticed an open container of beer in the center console as well.  

The deputy retrieved a portable device to determine the presence of alcohol. Clark said the portable device registered over 2.5 times the legal limit of alcohol.  

Shoemake was placed under arrest and transported to Neshoba County Detention Facility for further analysis. Shoemake refused a breath analysis at the jail, Clark said.
