A Preston man is out on bond after he bit a Justice Court Judge when he was in court on Monday for trespassing.

The man, Tyrone Sanders, 48, of 248 Shuttle Road, Preston, was arrested and charged with two counts of simple assault and resisting arrest, according to Sheriff Eric Clark.

Sanders was in court in front of Neshoba County Justice Court Judge Place 1 Paul Payne on Monday, Nov. 27, at about 12 noon when he became unruly, Clark said.

Constables then took Sanders into the hallways and attempted to handcuff him. At this time Sanders tried to pull away from the constables and started a scuffle with them.

Judge Payne heard the commotion and went into the hallway to see what was happening. As Payne attempted to assist the constables, Sanders bit him on the forearm just above the watch band on his left arm. Clark said the bite “left a mark” but was not serious enough to warrant a felony assault charge.

Clark said Sanders had been subdued and brought under control by the time his deputies arrived on the scene.

Jail records show Sanders bonded out the following day.

Sanders was arrested for the trespassing charge he was in court for on Sept. 18 of this year at a residence on Road 1525.
