More than 220 people responded to the call to help with the different ministries associated with the fourth Love Out Loud event in Neshoba County.

Monday was the start of four days of neighbors helping neighbors in various ways, from putting on a youth basketball camps at the Church at the Arc to painting a senior citizen’s home. People also wrote letters to soldiers in the military.

There was a free car wash and a drive-thru prayer line. Free rabies vaccinations for dogs will be available at the Baptist Center today (Wednesday). Also, there will be a community-wide prayer service at the Ellis Theater starting at 6:30 p.m. this evening.

“A lot of what we do is to come along existing ministry and help them with what they need,” said David Addy, director of missions at the Neshoba Baptist Center. “We meet at 7:45 each morning. There is a light breakfast. We sing a few songs, have a devotional. People have signed for one of the 40 ministries we have available, After the devotion, they go out and work at the various ministries until noon.”

Addy said about a month prior to Love Out Loud, a list of needs was sent out to area churches and published in the Democrat.

Among the needs were sheets and bed in a bag items, children’s clothes of all sizes and school supplies.

Some of the donated items will go to God’s Closet, a ministry located at the Valley View Shopping Center that gives clothes to kids in need, Addy said.
