License plate reader leads to arrest at casino

A Jackson man wanted on charges in multiple jurisdictions was arrested at the Golden Moon Casino last week after a license plate reader alerted county law enforcement authorities he was driving a stolen vehicle.

The man, John Rickman Jr., 45, 2600 Greenway Drive, Jackson, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and giving false ID information, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Rickman faces charges in other jurisdictions as well, Clark said. 

Rickman is wanted in McNairy County, Tenn., for violation of his probation on a burglary conviction, according to Clark.

Clark said in addition to the vehicle he was driving being reported stolen out of Jackson, Tunica officials are interested in Rickman as well.

Clark said Tuesday his office is still working on extraditing Rickman but believes he will be turned over to Tennessee authorities first.

Sheriff’s deputies were first alerted to Rickman’s presence in Nehoba County when the stolen vehicle he was driving appeared on a license plate reader camera on Highway 16 leaving town at about 4:19 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. 

Clark said the vehicle was tracked to the Golden Moon’s east parking lot where deputies secured the vehicle and notified casino security.

With the help of security, NCSO deputies were able to locate Rickman in the Golden Moon and arrest him.

During the arrest deputies found drugs on Rickman and Clark said he gave fake information to the arresting officers.
