The Leake Academy girls drew a first-round bye in the district tournament and will open Thursday at 3 p.m. against the winner between Winston and Starkville.

The tournament is being held at Winston Academy.

The Leake Academy boys opened tournament play Tuesday against Winston. The winner was to play Heritage Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

The Leake Academy girls picked up three victories last week and entered this week with a 26-2 record.

The Lady Rebels took a 51-50 victory against Hillcrest. Leake Academy trailed 14-6 at the end of the first quarter. They came back to outscore Hillcrest 18-11 in the second quarter to trail 25-24 at the half. The Lady Rebels would outscore Hillcrest 13-11 in the third quarter and carried a 37-36 lead into the final quarter. Both teams scored 14 points in the final stanza and the Lady Rebels took the win.

Miriam Prince and Morgan Freeny both scored 15 points to lead Leake Academy. Emmi Harkins had eight points.

The Leake Academy girls trounced Winston 67-22 and East Rankin 58-17.

Leake Academy led Winston 38-14 at the half.  Harkins led with 21 points while Prince put in 11 points.

The Lady Rebels led 35-7 at the half against East Rankin. Prince scored 21 points. Mabry Mayfield scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Harkins scored eight points.
