Neshoba Central’s quest for for a 10th state championship came to a end Monday night as they dropped a 5-4 decision to Saltillo in the third game of the North State finals.

The Lady Rockets won the first game of the series, 4-0. Saltillo won the second game, 2-0. The third game went into extra innings with the Lady Tigers scoring in the top of the ninth.

This is the third year in a row the two teams have met in the North State finals. Neshoba Central finishes with a 25-5 record.

In the first game, Lady Rockets pitcher Lanayah Henry struck out 15 batters

Neshoba Central scored three runs in the third and one in the fourth. Saltillo had a 5-3 hitting edge. Sa’Nya Jackson hit a triple while Henry and Mya Willis both hit a single.

In game two, the Lady Rockets went up 1-0 in the second. Saltillo scored two in the sixth and held on for the win. Henry had nine strike outs.

Saltillo out hit Neshoba Central 4-1. Xiomara Fireplace hit a triple.

The third gament scoreless for seven innings. Both teams scored four in the eighth and Saltillo scored one in the ninth.

Saltillo outhit the Lady Rockets 10-6. Charmayne Morris led with a double and a single. Jackson hit a double.
