Welcome home to Philadelphia, Shirley Cox! After being hospitalized and in Methodist Rehab in Jackson, she is now here in the Neshoba General swing bed facility where her friends and family can visit often. She is undergoing further therapy to help her recover from a stroke.

After being away for 102 days, she was taken home for a visit which raised her spirits enormously. Several close friends came to visit and welcome her home. Shirley had a big smile for all of her visitors who have come to see her during the time she spent in Jackson and now in Philadelphia. I am so very thankful that she is here.

A horde of happy, smiling green frogs in all sizes greeted Cheryl Newell Mars on Wednesday evening! Where had they all hopped from? They were on her lawn, porch, sitting in her swing, peeking from shrubs, and every where she looked there was a frog.

Cheryl had been “Frogged” by the First Methodist Church’s Anchored Student Ministry, a youth ministry. FROG is an acronym for Fully Relying on God. The youth ministry uses the frogging as a fundraiser. For a small fee the "frogged" person can make arrangements to have them retrieved and pass them on to another person for a donation, if desired. It looked like such fun! Who couldn’t smile at such entertaining froggy faces?

Congratulations to Lee McCall who was elected the new chairman of the Mississippi Hospital Association! He was elected by the members during their annual state meeting in Clearwater, Fla.  Lee is the administrator at Neshoba General Hospital where he does an outstanding  job. We are fortunate to have a person of his capability in that position.

We are fortunate to have such a great hospital with wonderful people who all help to make it an exceptional facility for Philadelphia.

Gatlinburg was the starting destination of the Bryan family for their vacation last week. Cody and Crystal Bryan and their three daughters, Anna, Gracie, and Kynlee along with Linda Majure Bryan headed to the mountains for a fun trip.

They went white water rafting which was a new experience for Linda who discovered that she loved it. The family did many interesting activities while in the mountains. They also went to Dollywood which was beautiful with flowers and landscaping that enhanced the area. One very unusual bed of bright red flowers had a huge butterfly made of flowering plants hovering in the center. It was amazing.

In Cades Cove they saw a momma bear with two cubs, a single "teenage" bear, four hen turkeys and a tom who Cody said was a “strutter.” They hiked to the top of Laurel Falls and admired the spectacular view. They all had a fabulous time, but they were glad to come home and rest!
