The 5th Wednesday Bridge Club met at the Holland House on May 31st for lunch and bridge. As usual, everything looked lovely with tables set with china and centerpieces of fresh garden flowers, and white linen napkins in napkin rings at each place.

Guests gathered in the living room for cheese wafers and a beverage of their choice while they visited and relaxed before lunch. A salad luncheon was served with a choice of seven layer lemon cake or key lime pie for dessert and coffee.

After lunch, the tables were cleared and cards appeared for an afternoon of bridge. There were four tables of women vying for the highest score! Lots of laughter and chatter arose from the tables as the afternoon passed.

Hostesses were Marianne Enochs, Ray Flemming, and Joyce Hardy. Members attending were: Joyce Dansby, June Nowell, Carol Oliphant, Susan King, Jan Williamson, Susan Burt, Charlene Webb, Ellen Kilgore, Alice Rowe, and Sara Hinkle. Guests were Wendy Hadon, Helen Thomasson and Jan Cooper.

We now have a "Little Library" in Woodland Hills, courtesy of Harold Anderson! He has built a charming little library made of wood with a shingled roof in the shape of a small house. It has a door that opens and the inside is full of books!

The name "Little Library" is written above the door with the invitation to "Take a book, leave a book". Harold is an avid reader who wanted to share his collection of books and in exchange get some he hasn’t read. Thank you so much for this great idea!

On Memorial Day, Barrett Little and several other men from the Church of Christ competed in a friendly fishing tournament they started several Memorial Days ago. They all really enjoyed the camaraderie while fishing together.

After the tournament was over, the fish were fried for everyone to eat along with side dishes in the church hall. This year the total number of fish caught was 112, with Barrett and Chris Butler winning with a total of 30.1 pounds of fish caught between them! They were presented a joint "trophy.” It was a fun event!

The mural in progress on the side of The Porterhouse facing the Ellis has an interesting background. Marty Stewart came up with the idea to do murals all over town with a theme of songs from country music that have to do with flowers. The murals will be beautiful flowers!

The first one being painted now is Dolly Parton's “Wildflowers” song. The words will be painted on the mural as well. Shawn Byars is heading up the project for Marty. Megan McCoy and her husband, Don, are sponsoring the Dolly Parton mural all of the way from Scottsdale.

Artists from the Meridian Museum Art Collective drew the design on the wall in a- paint- by- number method and began to paint. The Mural painting is open to the community and people of all ages are invited to come and paint. What fun! Thank you to Megan McCoy for some of the information. I can't wait to see the finished product!
