Ellington Connerley participated in the State Science Fair at the University of Mississippi on March 30. Due to the severe weather, the fair had to cancel a day early.

However, she was notified on April 12 that she had won second place in her category, "Behavioral and Social Sciences," in the entire state of Mississippi!  Ellington is a thirteen year old 7th grade student at Starkville Christian School. One thing that made her even happier about winning second place was her best friend and classmate won first place!

Her very proud parents are Robert and Lane Connerley. Her grandparents are Willie and Susan Evans Jackson from Philadelphia. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Rowan Benson, a 4th grader at Chambers Academy, for winning 3rd place in the Junior Federal Duck Stamp Competition!

Her grandparents, Bob and Lynn Holland Benson, spent the Easter holidays with their son, Nate Benson, and their grandchildren, Irene Frances, Rowan Grace, Phoebe Lee, and Noah Robert at their home in Auburn. Bob and Lynn admired the stamp picture that Rowan had painted with great enthusiasm. It was a really good picture! The family enjoyed just being together as well as attending Easter services and eating out. Bob and Lynn drove through some rough weather coming home and were thankful to arrive safely.

Our young entrepreneurs have been busy with their handmade JP candles and have announced a very special candle for Mothers' Day which is approaching soon. They have brought back "Light My Love" in a bigger, better candle poured into a 10 oz. pink ceramic jar with two wicks to disperse the scent farther and longer burn time.

JP Handmade Candles are made by two young men both of whom are still in high school and have been good friends for many years. Sounds like a winner for a Mothers' Day gift!
