Just Among Friends

Meredith Adams was recently selected as a Fashion Board Model at Mississippi State University. She is a graduate of Leake Academy and is a freshman at MSU. She was initiated into the Kappa Delta sorority during the sorority's initiation ceremony on campus the first weekend of October. Her parents are Russell and Monica Belvin Adams. Congratulations!

The Diamond Elite-Black baseball team has had a great beginning to their season this year. They have played in two tournaments so far and won both of them.

The team played in the Ocean Springs Sports Complex in Ocean Springs and looked amazing wearing pink as part of their uniforms for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Diamond Elite-Black was undefeated all day and brought home the gold in the 82 Challenge What's Up Doc Tournament. Hutt Rushing was named MVP and pitched a real no-hitter on a 60/90 field. He led the Diamond Elite-Black to a 3-0 win on Sunday. Among those cheering from the sidelines were his proud parents, TJ and Jill Dansby Rushing and his sister, Kaiser Rushing. Congratulations to the team!

Leake Academy sophomore, Lizzie Alford, and her bull received 4H Grand Champion Mississippi Bred Bull and Reserve Champion Bull Awards at the Mississippi State Fair in Jackson. Congratulations!

A beautiful baby girl made her debut on October 6, 2022, weighing 6 pounds and 13 ounces of pure sweetness. She has been named Ramsey Elizabeth Breland. Her joyous parents are Jacob and Logan Gray Breland. She has a big brother, Burkes, who was so excited to hold this tiny precious bundle. Congratulations!

Philadelphia High School Class of 1962 held its 60th Class Reunion on Saturday evening, October 8. The event was held in the Log Cabin at Northside Park which was decorated with the school colors, Tornado memorabilia, and other decorative items from the past. There were some hay bales and fall touches which added to the ambiance.

A variety of food was served along with a gigantic sheet cake decorated with Tornadoes and the 60h Class reunion message. DJ Alan Hardy did a great job of keeping the music from back in the day coming without missing a song!

There were approximately 45 guests who came to reminisce and catch up on news with their classmates. It was a fun evening for everyone. The event was spearheaded by Jo Helen Daly, Laura Bryan, and Suzanne Scanlon.
