East Central Community College held its Awards Ceremony on April 21 in the Huff Auditorium on campus. During the ceremony, Mary Ellen Booker received the Frank M. Cross Freshman Chemistry Award.

According to her mother, Mary Ellen has worked so hard to maintain excellent grades in spite of a full course load and two part-time jobs. Although she is a freshman, Mary Ellen lacks only 3 credit hours to receive an AA degree from ECCC! She earned dual credits during high school and carried a full course load during her year at East Central. In the fall she will enroll at Mississippi State University. Congratulations!

It was a beautiful, balmy, spring evening on April 2nd when an engagement party was held celebrating Rebecca Prince and John David Oubre's engagement. The party was given by a number of the couple's friends at Windham's farmhouse in the country outside of Philadelphia.

The spacious home was perfect for the large gathering of friends and family who attended. There were round tables set outside on the grass which looked lovely covered in long table cloths and fresh floral centerpieces with a pillar candle next to each one. Strings of lights added to the festive mood.

Tables with beautiful fresh flower arrangements held fabulous displays of delicious varieties of food. Each table resembled a magazine photo. The guests had a fun evening enjoying the food, music, and visiting with everyone.

John David's parents, David and Cindy Oubre, came from Hattiesburg as well as several other members of his family to join the celebration. Rebecca's parents, Eric and Ellen Prince, and many of her relatives enjoyed the happy occasion. Rebecca and John David will be married in June.
