When your daughter is in the United States Navy on a US ship, in the middle of the ocean, a phone call is an unusual event! Brian and Lydia Whitaker Berry received a call from their daughter, Emily Berry, who had been at sea for six weeks. She was calling with very exciting news. She had been promoted!

On March 18, she was surprised at an all-hands-on call where she was informed that she had been meritoriously advanced (MAPed) There is only one opening per rank per ship depending on quotas. She is now STG2! Congratulations!
