Three faculty members and a student from the University of Southern Mississippi School of Music performed a chamber music program in the Weill Recital Hall at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City on the evening of Jan. 11.

The chamber program, presented in part by the Blueprint Foundation, included a world premiere of music by Kazandjiev, a United States premiere of music by Poturlyan, and selections by Brahms and Piazzolla. It was a sold-out hall! Congratulations! What an honor for our state of Mississippi!

Steve Wilkerson celebrated 17 years as an organ recipient on Jan. 18. He received a new liver from an organ donor who gave him the gift of life, a life he has lived well and brought so much joy to his family.

Because of this person's unselfishness, Steve is enjoying making memories with his precious granddaughter, Poplar, and sharing two grandsons with his daughter, Lacey Wilkerson Murphy and her husband, Anthony, as well as enjoying retirement with Jenny Lynn.

He and Jenny Lynn continue to be so very grateful for the life he was given during another family's sorrow. Joy came from grief which has lasted for 17 years. They remember "Happy Transplant Day" each year especially. Organ donors save lives. Please consider being an organ donor.

A huge bow made entirely of deep pink balloons mounted above the entrance to the home of Emmi Jones greeted the guests as they entered for the baby shower honoring Hannah Jones Beckham last week.

The theme for the shower was "Bows" since Eric and Hannah Beckham will welcome their first child, a girl, Addison Kate Beckham, in the near future. The home was beautifully decorated for the occasion including a refreshment table with an amazing multi-tiered cake covered in white frosting with a huge white fondant bow at the base which looked so realistic. Cookies cut in shapes of baby clothes, bows, and monogrammed with AKB were very festive.

Hannah opened her many lovely gifts in front of the fireplace which had a garland of white balloons across the mantle and down the sides and little girl dresses hanging from a line beneath. Her smile was radiant as she opened each gift.

This was a joyous occasion for Hannah and Addison Kate! Hostesses for the shower were Annika Italiano, Rachel Black, Savannah Simmons, Anna Broome, Maria Sisson, Emmi Jones, Kim Price, Brandy Vance, and Stefanie McHenry.
