A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a Georgia man in Newton County.

The man, Qualee Fryer, 21, was arrested and charged with the murder of 20-year-old Adrion Simmons, according to Chief Deputy Kris Hollingsworth with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Choctaw Police responded to a report of a shooting on Friday, Feb.16, at about 10 p.m., at a residence on Campus Drive near Conehatta Elementary School.

CPD responded to the scene and determined that the victim and suspect were not Tribal members and contacted the Newton County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the investigation, Hollingsworth said.

Hollingsworth said the suspect was still on the scene when Choctaw Police arrived. CPD detained Fryer until the deputies arrived and took him into custody.

“After having interviewed the suspect, he was charged with murder,” Hollingsworth said.
