An extra special Christmas blessing arrived the day after Christmas when precious Joseph Thomas Anderson made his debut into our beautiful world. His parents, Austin and Bailey McCarver Anderson, joyfully welcomed him with open arms. He weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces of pure perfection.

His grandparents are Tommy and Terri Cox McCarver; and Alicia Anderson; great-grandparents are Shirley Cox and the late Tom Wallace Cox; Ellen Anderson and the late Paul Joseph Anderson. Congratulations!

Our New Year’s Eve was spent with the three of us, Romily, Coco, and I squished up together on the sofa in front of a cheerful fire with the television turned on the annual New York City celebration, and, this year, Nashville joined in with its amazing party. Instead of a ball dropping at midnight, a music note dropped! The difference in time zones made it possible to watch both.

It was exciting to see Philadelphia native HARDY live from Nashville onstage performing two songs at different intervals. Although we’ve never met, I feel as though we are acquainted, and always enjoy watching his performances. His very proud grandparents are Bobby and Joyce Hardy of Philadelphia.

A New Year’s baby who arrived on Jan. 3 weighing 6 pounds and 15.7 ounces has been named Liam Sparnecht. His very happy parents are Dylan and Brooklyn Sparnecht. He has a big sister, Josie Sparnecht, who was so excited to meet her baby brother along with her parents!

Dylan is the youngest child of Ron and Juan Sparnecht who are beyond thrilled to welcome grandchild number 12 to their growing family! Congratulations!

The year 2023 was an incredible year for JP Handmade Candles! This is a business created and run by Pete Peebles and Jack Butler who are high school students. Their little home business has grown so large that they formed an LLC earlier in the year, created a website, and expanded their line of products. They even pay quarterly sales taxes and will file a tax return for 2023.

Word of mouth has helped spread the news about their candles and as a result, they have shipped candles across the country to perfect strangers.

Philadelphia has been very supportive of this business not only because they are well known in town, but also because they produce a really fabulous product in many different scents. Congratulations! I am looking forward to 2024's candles!
