The Neshoba County Republican Women are selling large poinsettias to raise money for our Hometown Christmas celebration. All proceeds will be used for decorating our town for the Christmas holidays. This group is also responsible for the lovely flower baskets on the lampposts around the square.

The red poinsettias are $25 each with a goal of 400 purchased by Sept. 30. Checks may be mailed to the NC Republican Women at 414 A Columbus Avenue, Philadelphia, MS 39350. Please consider purchasing a plant to help them reach their goal and help beautify our community!

Members of the Holy Cross Family joyfully celebrated the installation of our new Pastor, Father Jofin George, on Sunday, Sept. 17. This blessed occasion was held on the Feast of the Holy Cross.

Bishop Joseph Kopaz came from Jackson to celebrate the mass and install Father Jofin. It was a very moving and beautiful service. The church was filled with members of the congregation and guests who had come to participate in this sacred occasion.

A reception was held following the mass in the church hall where long tables covered with white cloths held an array of luscious food. Floral arrangements added to the festive air. We are so very thankful to have Father Jofin as our pastor and wish him happiness and peace with us. Congratulations!

Precious Mary Mosley Pickering received a certificate that marked an extra special event in her young life. It was a Certificate of Achievement awarded in recognition of completing her "Final Spinal" treatment at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. She was also given a pink T-shirt with the words, "Final Spinal" emblazoned across the front.

Everyone who knows Mary Mo and her parents, Blake and Jessica Pickering, is excited for her to finally be on the winning side of the battle they have been fighting. There is an amazing party planned in December which Mary Mo has requested as a "Winter Wonderland" theme. With this in mind, Carla Davis thought everyone could use a new Mary Mo shirt! They are $20 each, Cash, PayPal, or Check only. Joyful congratulations to this amazing child and her parents!
