Gipson Cleaners will re-open as Beacon Street Cleaners as early as this summer after the original owners retired in 2022 leaving the county without a dry cleaners.

The new owners are Danial Zahid, Dylan Goines, and Zach Barnett. Christy Baysinger will serve as the general manager.

While no precise date has been set, Barnett said he and his business partners aim to have the cleaners fully operational by mid-August or early September.

They are currently completing necessary maintenance updates, including a major boiler project.

Starting Tuesday, July 16, the owners said the cleaners will begin accepting fluff and fold orders for the Neshoba County Fair.

“We are still undergoing major repairs and are not able to offer dry cleaning services at this time. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to serve you with our new and improved services soon,” the owners said in a Facebook post.

Zahid said that the renovations will focus on giving the lobby and exterior a facelift, while Barnett noted that a significant part of the renovation will be replacing the boiler, which had broken down under the previous ownership.

“Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to our grand reopening. We will have an exact date very soon,” the owners said. “We can’t wait to serve our wonderful community once again.”

Gipson Cleaners served Philadelphia for 83 years and closed in February 2022 when owners Regina and Danny Hicks retired. Her father, Jim Gipson, took over City Cleaners in 1939 because a man owed him back wages.

Regina’s mother, Mary Gipson, took over the business in 1949 when her husband died suddenly. Mary Gipson was a fixture at the cleaners into her 90s.
