Geyser Falls celebrates 20 years of fun

Geyser Falls Water Theme Park celebrated its 20th anniversary last week surrounded by park administration, staff, and leadership from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

Chief Cyrus Ben and Choctaw Indian Princess Shema Ladania Crosby were on hand along with others.

Sheila Martin, director of resort operations at Geyser Falls, said she and the rest of the management at the park wanted to recognize Rhiannon Lilly and Trent Butler, two employees who have worked at the park for 20 seasons and climbed the ranks all the way to management positions.

“20 years has made me very old I guess, and very mature,” said Trent Butler, operations manager. “20 years ago, I was very immature, but I’ve grown up and Geyser Falls is like a second home to me. I thank everyone here so much.”

Revenue manager Rhiannon Lilly said it has been a blessing watching kids grow up and start their careers at Geyser Falls.

“They start here at 15 years old and sometimes I have them until they’re 18, and then they go off to college,” Lilly said. “It’s a blessing to see them bloom into young adults.”

Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben joined in on the celebration and said Geyser Falls is more than just a summer job.

“I want everyone to understand that the job you do here is an integral part of representing our Resort and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Patrons come here and they see you. We’re a family in terms of business and I appreciate each one of you and what you do. Happy anniversary, this is Geyser Falls and we thank you for working with us.”

2021-2022 Choctaw Indian Princess Shema Ladania Crosby also attended the celebration, and park employees enjoyed cake and a reception afterward.

Geyser Falls Water Theme Park is in Choctaw. It is a 23-acre family amusement center featuring 12 major waterslides, a huge wave pool, a lazy river and activity areas for children and teens alike surrounded by waterfalls and swimming pools.
