Neshoba County Deputy Sheriff Gregory Keith Tubby died unexpectedly at home Sunday of natural causes.

Deputy Tubby, 49, was a night deputy and had recently gotten off work. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pearl River Gym. Burial will follow at the Hope Indian Baptist Cemetery. Members of the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department will serve as pallbearers.

“I had talked to him the day before,” said Sheriff Eric Clark. “He was a dedicated officer and a great guy. We will miss him.”

Tubby had worked as a deputy for more than seven years. Before, he was employed by the Philadelphia Police Department. He also worked part-time for the Carthage Police Department.

“I hired him not long after I became sheriff,” said retired Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell. “He always worked the night shift. He had opportunities to come on the day shift but he liked working nights. He took pride in his job and will be missed by many.”

In his spare time, Tubby enjoyed fishing, grilling and spend time with his German Shepherd dog.
