Police worked for an hour to clear a four-car wreck that left one injured and blocked traffic downtown Thursday morning.

The wreck involved four cars at the intersection of Pecan Avenue and Beacon Street, Police Chief Eric Lyons said.

He said the wreck happened when the breaks on a white GMC Truck turning left onto Pecan failed and it collided with another vehicle.

A police officer around the corner at the police station heard the wreck happen and immediately responded to the scene at about 9:40 a.m. Lyons said it took about an hour to clear the scene.

One injury was reported. Lyons said it was the driver of a brown Chevrolet sedan involved in the accident. Lyons said the victim was transported to Neshoba General with reports of arm pain.
