Troop 151, Boy Scouts of America, is being sponsored by the Pearl River Community organization, Jack Jimmie, chairman. Troop 151 is made up of Choctaw Indian boys of the Pearl River community. The troop is unique and honored in that this Choctaw Indian Council of the Boy Scouts of America is named for them.
The Neshoba County Fair got off to a fine start Monday night with the selection of Miss Alice Ebba Hamill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hammill as Miss Neshoba County and Miss Polly Crenshaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Crenshaw, of Arlington being chosen runner-up.

By a margin of only one vote, Leland Kilgore was placed in the run-off for Sheriff of Neshoba County by the Democratic Executive Committee after a recount of the votes was completed Tuesday afternoon here.

Mrs. Hal Reese of Philadelphia has been selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of America for 1973 in recognition of outstanding ability, accomplishments, and service to the community.
Dr. R. A. Posey, past potentate of the Hamasa Temple of Meridian, will be elected president of the Southeastern Shrine Association at its annual meeting here Friday.

A Philadelphia company has been awarded a $3.6 million construction contract by a Meridian hospital. Representatives of Jeff Anderson Memorial Hospital announced that the contract for building three-story parking garage had been awarded to W.G. Yates and Sons Construction Co.
A home in northwest Philadelphia was gutted by fire late Saturday night. The home at 279 Border Street was gutted by fire at about 10:45p.m., Philadelphia Fire Department officials said.

Gaynell Meador Burt, a fourth-grade teacher at Neshoba Central Elementary School, has been nominated to represent the county school district in the 1994 Mississippi Teacher of the Year program.
Choctaw Indian Chief Phillip Martin accepted a petition Tuesday morning that asks for a referendum on two current issues related to the proposed casino on the reservation. The petition, containing more than 900 signatures, asked for an election on gaming and alcohol.

Neshoba County will have to absorb an $80,000 hike in health insurance premiums, supervisors learned this week. The 10-percent rate increase is projected for the new year as the Board of Supervisors works to compile a fiscal 2014 budget.
A manufacturer of agricultural chains has purchased an existing building in the Union Industrial Park from Neshoba County for $700,000 and will employ 15 to 20 people initially, it was announced last week. Allied-Locke Industries, based in Dixon, Ill., purchased the former Brook Manufacturing facility in Union in Neshoba County.
