A high honor in the art division of the Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs has been awarded the Culture Club of Philadelphia. Mrs. C.I. Franks, Second District Art Chairman, won first place in the state with her report, while the Culture Club art report placed first as the best individual report. 

NOVEMBER 24, 1950

Pvt. William Richardson, 20, son of Mrs. W.D. Richardson, of Philadelphia, has completed his AF basic airmen indoctrination course at Lackland Air Force Base.

Charles L. Savell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cross G. Savell of Philadelphia, was one of the six MSU students initiated into Pi Tau Sigma, honorary mechanical engineering fraternity.

Second Lieutenant Jimmy C. Huntley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Champlin C. Huntley Jr. of Louisville, has been awarded U.S. Air Force Silver pilot wings upon graduation at Vance AFB, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Grady Hill of Ethel, Louisiana, was the winner of the Democrat’s recipe contest with her recipe for Peking Roast.

Mezzo Soprano Lauren McNeese, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. McNeese has signed a contract with Lyric Opera of Chicago in the Young Artist Program.

Karlea Winstead and her fifth grade teacher, Mel Lanke, at Madison Crossing Elementary School. Neshoba County native Sgt. 1st Class Jeffery Winstead received a card from Karlea, his cousin, while he’s serving in Afghanistan.
