Dorothy “Mama G” Commer
Funeral services for Ms. Dorothy “Mama G” Commer will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Mars Hills Pentecostal Church in Winston County, with Rev. Bryan Madison, Rev. Lloyd Adcock, Bro. Donald Joe Nowell, and Rev. Kenny Chessor officiating. Interment in Commer Family Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 PM to 8 PM Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel.
Ms. Commer, 93, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family Saturday, February 17, 2024 at her home. She lived in Neshoba County most of her life where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Mars Hill Pentecostal Church and she was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years. She was married to Mr. Jasper Commer for almost 73 years, and they sang in a quartet for many years. Her hobbies were doing yard work, cooking, gardening, baking and sharing her bread, but she loved spending time with her grandchildren most of all.
Ms. Commer is preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Commer; parents, James Ernest Ferguson and Vera Mae Breazeale Ferguson; sister, Neva Ferguson Stegall; sons-in-law, Donald Nowell, Wendell Manning, and Jimmy Kirkland.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Kirkland and Pam Manning; sons, Donnie Commer (Faron), and Terry Commer (Tammie); grandchildren, Jeffrey Kirkland (Morgan), Emily Ingram (Stuart), Dianne Madison (Bryan), Nathan Commer (Lacey), Josh Commer, Trevor Commer, Randy Carl Arledge (Briana), Flame Coker (Mark), Donald Joe Nowell (Vanessa); (21) great-grandchildren, Makaela Ingram, Colton Ingram, Abbagail Ingram Sifuentes (Landon), Jay Dee Madison, Libby Claire Madison, Jasper Lee Commer, Jake Riley Commer, Callie Commer, Trenton Kirkland, Jacob Kirkland, Minnie Nowell, Lyra Nowell, Weston Nowell, Bindi Coker, Vivi Coker, Gable Coker, Alli Grace Commer, Ivey Kate Commer, Colt Commer, Christian Soriano, Reed Carlton Arledge; (1) great-great-grandchild, James Avery Hoskins.
