It’s no longer just a rumor. Dolly Parton is coming to the Ellis here this summer.

The country music legend, who has sold over 100 million records worldwide, will be in Philadelphia on Aug. 26 as the featured performer in a fund-raiser for Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music downtown, it was announced Wednesday night in Nashville.

The event starts a busy lineup of artists, performances, and events coming to Philadelphia during the Fall of 2023 and Spring of 2024, including movies and local performances.

Country Music Hall of Famer Marty Stuart, a Neshoba County native, announced the schedule Wednesday night in Nashville. The full lineup can be found at the Congress of Country Music.

In addition to Dolly Parton’s performance, Wynonna will appear on Jan. 10.

Dorothy Moore will be appearing on Sept 1. Also appearing will be Herman’s Hermits on Oct. 28, the Steve Miller Band on Dec. 9, and The Mavericks on Feb. 22.

April 6 is Merle Haggard’s 87th birthday celebration, an evening of songs and stories featuring country music legend Connie Smith, accompanied by Eddie Lang and very special guests Marty Stuart and the Superlatives.

Following the announcement by Stuart from the stage at Nashville’s Historic  Ryman Auditorium during the 20th anniversary of his annual “LATE NIGHT JAM” and Congress of County Music fundraising event, the Board of Directors and the Management at Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music said they are proud to announce the initial line-up of artists and events coming to Philadelphia for the Fall of 2023 and Spring of 2024.

Buck Alman, the Congress of Country Music director and General Manager of the Ellis Theater, said, “We are very excited to be able to host such an incredible and diverse line-up of superstar talent. We have worked very hard to put together something spectacular to present to the people of Philadelphia, along with our friends and neighbors throughout Mississippi.

He spoke of bringing in audiences from around the country and worldwide.  "We have something truly special here in Philadelphia, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone," Alman said.

“We may have a few more surprises out there as well. We always have friends stopping by. You never know who may show up. The best way to keep up with everything that we have going on is to follow us on social media. Anything that is happening will be there first.”
