Suspects in several car burglaries reported at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds throughout last week are being sought, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said.

Reports of at least five vehicles broken into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights of the Fair were received in which a credit card, three handguns, $1,500 cash and a coin purse were reported stolen.

The bulk of the break-ins, according to Clark, occurred on Tuesday, July 25, and Wednesday, July 26, in the evening. Clark said between those two evenings at least three cars parked at a residence on Road 404 across Highway 21 from Gate 2 were reportedly “compromised.” Clark said he is not sure if the vehicles were left unlocked or not.

Clark said three handguns were reported stolen as well as a credit card and $1,500 in cash related to these incidents.

Clark said his office has no suspects as of Tuesday, but said they are interviewing persons of interest in relation to the incidents.

Clark said the credit card was used at the Murphy USA on Beacon Street in Philadelphia. Reportedly, deputies are working to acquire security footage from store management to develop a vehicle description and possible suspects in this ongoing case.

Earlier during Fair Week, at about 11 p.m. on Monday, July 24, Clark said a call came in reporting two vehicles had been broken into near the Fairgrounds.

Clark said both vehicles had their passenger side windows broken. One car owner reported nothing missing from their vehicle while another reported a coin purse with some spare change was taken.

The vehicles were reportedly parked about a half mile south of the main gate to the Fairgrounds on Highway 21 South, according to Clark.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, Clark said. Deputies are working to develop suspects in this case as well.

Anyone with information on criminal activity in the Neshoba County and Philadelphia area is encouraged to call the NCSO at (601) 656-1414 or East Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 1-855-485-8477.
