A Walnut Grove man was arrested and charged with DUI twice in one day here on Sunday, Sheriff Eric Clark said.

The man, Aven Isaac, 36, of 143 Covestone Road, Walnut Grove, was arrested and charged with two charges of driving under the influence on Nov. 26.

Clark said deputies first encountered Isaac when he ran a stop light at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 16 at about 9:30 a.m. Clark said at this time he was driving a silver Mazda car. He was arrested and charged with DUI after deputies determined he was under the influence.

Jail records show he was released from jail later that day at 2:45 p.m. after posting a $1,500 bond.

Later a deputy would pull him over on Highway 16 West headed into town at about 5:30 p.m. Clark said in this case he was driving a gray Cadillac that belonged to a family member. Deputies again determined that Isaac was impaired and he was arrested.

Clark said Isaac was among the 10 DUIs issued related to extra patrols during Thanksgiving weekend. The detail began at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and went through 12 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.

“This detail was called to target impaired and distracted drivers in Neshoba County during the holiday weekend,” Clark said.

During the detail, Neshoba County Sheriff Deputies issued 84 traffic citations. The majority of those citations in addition to the 10 DUIs. According to Clark, these included: No driver's license, suspended driver's license, and no child restraint.

There were 24 arrests for misdemeanor crimes; as well as, seven arrests for felony crimes, Clark said. The felony arrests included: one convicted felon who possessed a firearm, five counts of possession of a controlled substance most of which is believed to be methamphetamine, and one assault on a police officer.
