Deputies arrest man who owed county fines since 2005

A Philadelphia man was arrested on drug charges and a variety of traffic violations after he was pulled over on Highway 21 just north of Philadelphia on Sunday.

The man, Gregory Craft, 54, of 11590 Highway 482 Lot 6, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under a suspended license, expired tag, no insurance, and improper equipment, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark, who said Craft was also arrested on outstanding warrants for failure to appear and contempt of court.

Deputies encountered Craft driving a Ford Ranger with an expired tag on Nov. 5 at about 2 p.m. They pulled him over after seeing the expired tag.

While making the arrest for the outstanding warrants, Clark said deputies gave Craft a pat down during which time they discovered a small bag of crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Craft admitted the drugs were his, the authorities said.

In addition to the warrants, Clark said Craft also owes the county more than $3,600 in fines going back to December 2005.
