Funeral services for Mrs. Darthy Jean Ray McAdory were held at 10 AM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Tim Robertson and Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Interment was in Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation was 5 – 8 PM Friday, November 17, 2023, at John E. Stephens Chapel.

Mrs. Darthy Jean Ray McAdory, became the newborn daughter of the late Marvin Roebuck and Lena Pearl Roebuck on January 17, 1936. After 87 years, she was called home to Heaven on November 15, 2023. She resided in the Good Hope community in Philadelphia, MS and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She graduated from Arlington High School in 1954 before attending East Central Community College and Mississippi State University.

Mrs. Darthy graduated in the field of education. She taught at both the Neshoba Central and Conehatta Elementary Schools from which she retired after many years. Darthy was well known and well loved in her career, and she remained a passionate advocate for the field of education.

She was married to the love of her youth, Durwood Yates Ray. To this union 2 daughters were born. Mrs. Darthy later met and married the love of her autumn season, Harold Dewitt McAdory, whose son she loved as her own.

Darthy was very proud of and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Her family remained a very important and fulfilling part of her life into her passing.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Durwood Yates Ray; parents, Lena Pearl and Marvin Roebuck; brother, Paul Woods (Willie Pearl); sister Faye Spears (Noel).

She is survived by her husband, Harold Dewitt McAdory; children, Pennie Reese (Neal), Berti Marie Williams, and Harold McAdory (Ashley); grandchildren, Flame Coker (Mark), Kyndall Rushing (Justin), Kimber Rippie (Adam), Tyler Reese, Cappi Pugh (Matt), Mackenzie Ingram (Gray), Taylor McAdory, and Rory McAdory. Other survivors include her beloved sisters, Dora McAdory (Dan), Reba Barrett (Wilford), Betsy Eakes (Lamar). Mrs. Darthy also leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
