Dad arrested for stealing rifle from son
A father has been arrested for allegedly breaking into his son’s home just outside of Union off of Road 210 and taking a rifle late last week, the authorities said.
The man, Sammy Holliday, 53, of 10141 Road 1305, was arrested and charged with possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon and burglary of a dwelling.
Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said his office received a call reporting a burglary at a house on Road 1305 on Friday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. He said the homeowner reported his back door had been kicked in and an AR-15 style rifle was reported stolen.
He said a neighboor had reported the break-in to the homeowner and sent him a picture.
Clark said deputies were talking to the victim’s family at a nearby residence when Holliday, the victim’s father, was developed as a suspect. Deputies found the stolen rifle under a child’s bed at the residence and Holliday admitted he had hidden the rifle there.
Clark said the arrest was made at 5:19 p.m.
