Mr. Watkins entered into eternal rest on January 7, 2022 at the age of 97. He was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and retired from Weyerhaeuser in Philadelphia. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and a member of the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #93. He married his beautiful wife, Johnnie, on May 31, 1946 and they built a life together with their three sons.  They were blessed with 57 years of marriage.

He never traveled to faraway places and did not see the wonders of the world but he lived an amazing life; a life full of love and happiness.  He lived each day with a grateful heart and took nothing for granted.  In his final years, he spent his time longing for the day he would see Jesus face to face.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Breland Watkins and his son, Don Mitchell Watkins (widow Tammy). He is also preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Tommie Gene Watkins, sister, Eloyease Lybrand and beloved aunt and uncle, Thurman and Polly Rice.
