A man and a woman were arrested and charged with drug trafficking after law enforcement officials were called to the scene of an apparent overdose near Madden.

The man, Billy Thomas Pike, 66, 10250 Road 402, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a firearm by felon.

The woman, Edith Marie Welch, 62, 4348 Patann Street, Jackson, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking Schedule II controlled substance.

Pike and Welch are currently held at the Neshoba County Detention Center. Both had their bond denied.

On Monday, June 3, at about 9:49 p.m., deputies responded to Pike’s residence on Road 402 for a possible overdose, according to Administrative Deputy Amanda Wilkerson with the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, deputies were met by Welch, who stated that Pike had overdosed and a neighbor had rushed over and administered two doses of Narcan, Wilkerson said. EMS checked Pike out and transported him to Neshoba General.

While deputies were inside the home, Wilkerson said they noticed several items in plain view, including a blue metal container, a silver metal grinder, a silver metal pipe, one white package containing a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana, one clear baggie that contained a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana,  one clear baggie containing about seven units of what appeared to be Ecstasy and three dosage units of what appeared to be Xanax, and one black Rossi RS22 .22 Long Rifle and Scope.

After being read her Miranda rights, Welch cooperated with deputies and told them that the items in plain view belonged to Pike, according to Wilkerson.

When asked if she had anything inside the room or on her, she disclosed she had a pipe on her side of the bed, methamphetamine inside the mirror drawer, and she had been given a large baggie by Pike before the deputies arrived, Wilkerson said.

“Ms. Welch pulled out a large clear baggie of a white crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine with a total package weight of 14.98 grams from her back left pocket,” Wilkerson said.

On Tuesday, June 4, a Justice Court judge reviewed and signed the search warrant for Pike’s residence.

Neshoba County deputies, along with a Union Police Department K9 officer, searched the residence and, according to authorities, found the following: one black bag containing zip lock bags with a white crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 286.00 grams, one female wallet containing one clear zip lock bag with a white crystal like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.7 grams, $9,000.00 in U.S. Currency, and one black bag containing a yellow bag, zip lock bag, and six clear baggies of a white crystal like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 180.00 grams.
