Jack Ray, 89, of Ellisville, formerly of Philadelphia, MS, died Sunday, December 24, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.

Jack was born in Neshoba County, MS to Claude and Lois Ray on December 2, 1934.

He was a truck driver for 67 years, serving most of his career with Olen Burrage Trucking and Howard Transportation.He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Mason and Shriner.

Jack was loved by everyone who met him. He had a long and happy life. Jack always had a smile on his face, and no matter what he was facing, he continued to live and love others. His kindness, compassion and joyfullness made an impact on many lives. He loved his family very dearly, especially his grandchildren. Jack was known by his family as Paw Paw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Ray and Lois Ray; wife, Jean Ray; son, Michael Ray.

Survivors include two sisters, Jeraldine Lingle of M Morton, MS and Walterine Fagan (Ralph) of Satsuma, AL; three grandsons, Josh Ray (Lacey) of Philadelphia, MS; Jeremy Ray (Heather) of Laurel, MS; Jimmy Hilburn of Laurel, MS; two granddaughters, Erin Pitts of Laurel, MS and Mindy Cummings (Scott) of Sandersville, MS; three great-granddaughters, Kenley Pitts, Addison Ray, and Miley Ray; two great-grandsons, Mason Cummings and Dennon Pitts; one great-great grandson, Drayson Pitts; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Ray of San Antonio, TX.

Visitation was held 5:00 to 8:00 in the evening on Wednesday, December 27th at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. No other services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
