City offering amnesty for past-due fines

Anyone with outstanding fees with the Philadelphia Municipal Court has until the end of March to take advantage of the city’s amnesty program.

An amnesty program allows those who owe old fines and fees to come to City Halll and pay them without fear of being detained.

Municipal Court Clerk Marilyn Jackson said individuals may pay in full or arrange a payment plan with the Court Clerk’s office without fear of being detained.

“This will allow people to clear their names and eliminate fines,” Jackson said.

The program started on Jan. 1 and will continue through to March 31 of this year.

The city estimates they have 4,522 outstanding fines.

Contact the Municipal Court Clerk’s office at 601-650-3584, or stop by to make arrangements.

The Municipal Court Clerk’s office is located in City Hall and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They accept cash money, money orders, credit and debit card payments.
