Bridge work delayed until fall

It could be another month or so before work begins to replace the St. Francis Drive bridge at Holland Avenue.

The Central Electric Power Association and Philadelphia Utilities met with engineers last week to discuss moving electric lines near the bridge.

Once that is accomplished, the project can begin – perhaps in the fall. The bridge was closed earlier this year after a car struck one of the side rails and made the bridge unsafe, officials said.

The project will cost approximately $715,000, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
