A Bogue Chito man pleaded guilty to shooting at a law enforcement officer in March 2020, federal authorities said.

The man, Shane Alexander Bell, Jr., 27, pleaded guilty late last month according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney’s office and the ATF.

According to court records, on March 17, 2020, in the Bogue Chitto Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation, Bell assaulted a law enforcement officer by firing a handgun at him, resulting in damage to the officer’s home.

In November of 2022, a federal grand jury indicted Bell for using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, the release goes on to say.

Choctaw Police declined to additional details or comment further on the case as Bell has not been sentenced.

Bell faces a penalty of not less than ten years in prison, according to LaMarca.
