Anna Frances Fox Blackwell, 102 years old, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2023. She was a resident of Hearthside Senior Living of Collierville, Tennessee. She was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi on April 1, 1921 to the late Mabel Majure Fox and Erbin E. Fox. She graduated from Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, MS in 1939 and later from Mississippi State College for Women in Starkville, MS in 1943. She began her teaching career in Marks, MS upon college graduation. During WWII she worked as a Federal Food Inspector in California and Oregon. She treasured her memories of working on the West Coast during the war. She resigned her West Coast job in 1946 to come home to marry her college sweetheart, Clois Evans McMullan of Newton, MS. Frances later attended the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi College and retired after 25 years as a Speech Therapist in the Jackson Public Schools and 8 years at Neshoba Central Elementary in Philadelphia.

She was a longtime member of Philadelphia First Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the Women of the Church. She enjoyed being a member of Neshoba Retired Teachers, Lions Clubs, Senior Citizens, Business and Professional Women’s Assn and the Claybluff Art Assn. Frances never met a stranger, loved people, loved to dance, and was a social butterfly always looking forward to her next social occasion.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, W.T. Blackwell; sister, Jean Fox Hightower.

She is survived by her sister June Fox Mitchell; daughter, Susan Lipscomb (Malcom); son, Clois Carlton McMullan (Faye); (3) grandchrildren; (2) great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 5, 2023 John E. Stephens Chapel, 812 Pecan Avenue, Philadelphia, MS 39350. Visitation will precede services beginning at 12:00.
